2022년 4월 ‘치의학의 정의’및 ‘치과의사의 업무 범위’가 아래와 같이 제정되었습니다.

○ 치의학의 정의 : 
   (국문) 치의학(치과)은 인간의 건강 유지와 증진을 목적으로 치아, 치주조직, 구강구조물, 턱뼈, 턱관절, 얼굴 및 이와 연결된 머리와 목 등 주변 구조물에 대하여 의학적 연구를 수행하는 학문이며 치과의사가 의료행위를 수행하는 의료분야이다. 
   (영문) Definition of dental medicine (dentistry) : Dental medicine (dentistry) is amedical field that conducts medical research and medical practice on teeth, periodontaltissue, oral structure, jaw, temporomandibular joint, face and their surroundingstructures such as head and neck for maintaining and promoting human health.

○ 치과의사의 업무 범위 : 

    (국문) 치과의사는 치의학(치과)의 정의에 근거한 연구와 의료행위 및 의료인으로서의 임무를 수행한다. 
    (영문) The scope of practice for dentists : Dentists perform research and medicalpractice based on the definition of dental medicine (dentistry), and perform theirduties as medical personnel.
